The Château Vieux Taillefer is a family-owned property of twelve acres (5 hectares) located in the different areas of the Saint-Emilion appellation.
We produce three wines : Pavillon de Taillefer, Château Vieux Taillefer, and Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer. The whole production is made using organic farming, certified by the ECOCERT label.
The story of the Château Vieux Taillefer dates back to the 18th Century. It underwent a significant change in 2006 when Catherine and Philippe Cohen acquired the property.
Catherine and Philippe Cohen had the foresight, right from the beginning, thanks to their expertise, to produce wines that are representative of their terroir and to make each vintage as unique as the last.
Catherine Cohen
Catherine Cohen is an oenologist. She graduated from the Guyot Institute in Dijon. In 1995 she took part in several years of winemaking at Petrus, trained by Jean-Claude Berrouet. She was then a consultant and winemaker in numerous properties of the right bank of Bordeaux; Pomerol, Saint-Emilion, Lalande de Pomerol, Montagne Saint-Emilion. She spent more than ten years in understanding the identity of each appellation, but more importantly the particularity of merlot which is said to be the king of grape varieties of the right-bank.
