The entire property has twelve acres of vines in total. These twelve acres are spread over six different plots. All types of soil can be found in the region and all our vines are planted on these different soils.

We produce “terroir wines”, meaning that our soil is very important to us.

Everything is done manually at Château Vieux Taillefer, either by horse or tractor. The use of harsh products is limited to the use of Sulphur and copper, and sometimes organic products to treat certain diseases that can be found on the vine. We disbud to control the yield. No leaf thinning or green harvesting takes place. The harvest is done entirely by hand. This helps us do a pre-selection to make sure we pick the very best quality grapes.

For nearly ten years, we have been working closely with Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, who have helped us understand and study each plot of vine. The life of the soil is paramount. We aim to preserve the fauna and flora on our property. While most of the property is planted with vines, you will also find at Château Vieux Taillefer, beehives, hens, an organic vegetable patch, cherry and lemon trees, and all the varieties of botanical species found on Bordeaux’s right bank.
